Historian Dr Bob Nicholson found an interesting article in a 1889 edition of Tit-Bits Magazine which asked Victorian women why they are single. Or as they put it, “Why Am I A Spinster?”. The publishers of the magazine even offered a prize to the spinster who could provide the best answer to the question why is she single. But they got so many savage replies, they couldn’t pick just one. Seriously the answers they received were hilarious and badass. Here are some of the best ones:
