Check out these wonderful behind the scenes photos from Disney’s Cinderella movie! It was the 12th classic animated Disney movie released in theatres on March 4, 1950. It’s really neat to see the figure models that many of the scenes were based off:

Why have such elaborate modelling?
Because animation, just like other forms of art, require models to correctly show figure movements, draping or flow of fabric, and to block out (choreograph) how a scene will tell and move a story along. That’s why.
But this is almost like motion capture and way more elaborate than necessary.
