Patty Myasia posted this unfortunate text exchange to illustrate what it’s like being a young woman in business for yourself. She handled it like a boss though. This type of thing is an all too common occurrence and men need to stop doing things like this. This is not support. Here’s what she had to say about it:
“can I vent for a sec? it’s hard enough being a young woman in business, this is not the first time. these interactions get more & more nauseating. in the mind of men like this—you’re supposed to give into their advances because “support” and when you don’t, the manipulative tactics spew. all of a sudden I am not humble, I’m arrogant – simply bc I’m not feeding into what he wants. falsely labeling me like that was supposed to make me give him the answer he really wanted. reverse psychology.
give me the same respect as a young business woman, that you’d give a young business man – when doing business. if you wouldn’t do it to him, don’t do it to me. if you wouldn’t say it to him, don’t say it to me. trying to gloss “support” over a manipulative tactic won’t work with me. stuff like this appeases some women, I am simply NOT her. I will pack you up, every single time. I don’t let people play with my name or in my face, and I never will – and if that makes me “evil” I’ll be that, with a badge of honor.”
