This thread makes an interesting point about how to animals humans are the Fae. This may not sound legit at first, but they make a lot of really good points. And on top of all that, while humans are not immortal, it may seem that we are since we live many, many times longer than most other species lifetimes. Perhaps this is because we’ve evolved to the fairies of the natural world, which goes well with the What if Fantasy Creatures Existed & Mixed With Humans theory.
