…*sigh*
THESE ARE NOT “COSPLAYERS”.
These are called “costumers”. That term wasn’t even coined by that random idiot journalist yet. I wish you all would quit retconning Costuming history by calling them by the wrong term.
Since most people are ignorant about the history of Convention Costuming… http://www.wendyrosskaufman.com/costume/theyre-young-were-dead-so-its-cosplay/
Sounds like an overdramatic child having a hissyfit because someone called her her Bratz doll a Barbie.
Yes, Sarah. Exactly!
You do realize that this article basically says that they are both names for the same thing, but that some people prefer one over the other.
If 1966 Worldcon was on its traditional Labor Day , Star Trek hadn’t aired yet, yet there were two Trek costumes already?
Yep. It’s well known- if you bother to take the time to look it up – that Star Trek premiered at that convention.
The show was in production, several episodes had been filmed, and the pilot episode was shown at the convention.
The Star Trek costumes in those pictures weren’t fan made – they’re actual costumes from filming. Gene Roddenberry provided them and paid people to wear them and walk around the halls to promote the show.
The Star Trek costumes were loaned bt Roddenberry and he also appeared there in a Romulan Centurian costume.
