The Iliad & The Odyssey are Actually Dungeons & Dragons

LOL! Here’s all the proof you need that Homer’s The Iliad and The Odyssey are actually just transcripts of a very long game of Dungeons & Dragons:

  1. Why didn’t Achilles wear armored boots? Did Achilles not even know about his one vulnerable spot? Not a rhetorical question

    1. The “Achilles’ heel” thing is actually not in the ‘Iliad’ – the weakness is a later, legendary addition, not a part of the original narrative; seems to have turned up in the Roman period, so likely Virgil is responsible for it (as he was for the details of the Trojan Horse story – which is only mentioned in passing by Homer.

As to why the Romans didn’t add boots/armour/shoes for Achilles – prolly cos they’re idiots, & couldn’t come up with anything original, if the Greeks had not already thought of it. 😛
