Today’s “humans are weird space orcs” post by torisfeather is about how humans have exceptions. Not only are humans weird, but they have exceptions that are even weirder:
Should that not also apply to Aliens? If they have a society, maybe they have just as many exceptions and weirdos. Maybe they have their own nations, ethnicities, cultures and subcultures, different religions and political ideologies, and finally, their own share of oddballs who even the Aliens of the same species consider “alien”.
There’s a whole subgenre to be had here. Humans interacting with the cultures that have homogenized themselves enough that these “exceptions” are social outcasts, humans curing disabilities by denying their existence as far as a concept in the human mind, humans elevating whole species by recognizing what the one who sees from a different perspective sees. And that’s just in relation to the races that don’t have exceptions, or rather, don’t think they do, and are hampered in their understanding of humans as a result.
