I don’t know why this gave me chills. What a lovely story.
I don’t think these people have any concept of what a succubus is.
A being that can invoke passion and desire. But they clearly state that this one doesn’t want the “normal” things like power or romance. She doesn’t even realize she is one. She just has the power to invoke and inspire, and her vibe is “be nice and enjoy life.”
She’s found a way to feed her hunger, even being ignorant of her nature… AND she found a way that enriches lives in exchange for a few seconds worth of life force- no more than a jump scare or a single ‘wild night at the club’. She is able to feed on the attention and adoration of the people that find her posts. Her least popular posts still have dozens of people to share the cost of a single meal and she gives them joy and reconnects them with the quiet pleasures of being human that had been set asode or lost as the demands of survival outweighed the little happinesses of life.
Clueless to her heritage, her inherent kindness and joie de vivre, led her to instinctively fulfil both aspects of her nature.
There’s really only a few differences between a muse and a succubus from the pov of the human, and it mostly boils down to how kind the one the human encounters is.
What a beautiful, hopeful story. I love it. It’s a world that I would be happy to live in.
