Would be a great idea if demons could be trusted to cooperate, with the diagnosis part or the excision part. As is, you’re sending in a parasite to diagnose a bacterial infection — mostly metaphorically speaking.
A demon would more likely than not give a false diagnosis just to mess the person up worse, and/or fix the problem only in exchange for exclusive rights to torment the person (“if you thought you were suffering before, wait ’til you see what *I* can come up with!”)
