Had a similar idea I might write down if I can nail down more details: Two villains, one of whom wants to take down the hero so he can be with the heroine, the other of whom wants to take down the heroine and have the hero for herself. They join forces to break the heroes apart and/or tear down what they’ve built, but end up foiling their shared plan by falling for each other instead.
