timemachineyeah posted this wonderful thread telling stories about their grade school teacher Mr. Robinson. He sounds like an absolutely amazing teacher that would make kids to want to go to school and learn. We need more teachers like Mr. Robinson!

My old Religious education teacher once he found out I was amazing at debate (in UK high school old we don’t have debate club’s or anything like that back then) and he would every week during one lesson a week decide a debate topic and give me a side to argue against the rest of my class and would sit back in facsination as I gradually over the course of the hour long lesson swayed every student to my side of the debate. No matter their points I could debate it and win them to my side. He told me the day I left it never ceased to amaze him how easily I could debate any topic and anyside of that topic, given a short time to research it if I didn’t already know it. And he didn’t always pick topics within our lesson plan. He had one about animals being stupid, this I will add was in deep farming country in Cumbria during the foot and moth epidemic we had back in the early 00’s. Before we started he told the farmers they had to oppose me, who as far as my fellow students were aware knew nothing about farming. They realised quickly just because I didn’t live on a farm, didn’t mean I hadn’t worked a few in my time.
