Bruce Wayne’s Wealth

Bruce Wayne aka Batman‘s wealth is like plot armor. No matter what he does to spend it all he still has money. Bruce Wayne is one of the richest men in the world. Bruce Wayne will never not be one of the richest men in the world. But by God is he trying!

  1. … What I wouldn’t give for a real-life billionaire to try this. Mostly for the “profit-destroying doomed strategy” bit. Somebody tries investing all their money into things that A) benefit society and B) specifically make them poorer, just as a scientific experiment. They can even have a clause, sort of like the bet, that once their net worth dips below $X million or $Y billion they call off the experiment.

Closest examples I’ve seen are Mr. Beast, who as far as I can tell does stuff as a publicity stunt and intentionally benefits the more (from those watching his videos) for it, and the Biblical book of Ecclesiates (which was more of a test of the idea that money can’t buy happiness).

    1. I recall the core concept of this being the plot of the movie Brewster’s Millions. Richard Pryor played a baseball player who inherited a million dollars as a test fund, but would get a larger payout if he could spend the original million within a month. He invested in his dying team, and now they have a huge viewer turnout. He tried buying garbage stocks, and they blew up and became worth more than his initial million.

  2. Best of all, Clark can use this to needle Lux Luthor.
Superman pointing out that Wayne is more successful than Luthor despite Bruce Wayne (perceived by the public) being Luthor’s interllectual inferior is going to drive Lex up the wall.
