Jessica Valenti tweeted this eye-opening thread about women being punished for losing their babies through miscarriages, accidents or otherwise horrible circumstances. Stop saying women won’t be punished if abortion is illegal. Roe v. Wade still stands in America, and here’s what’s still happening to women.

If you’re outraged by these stories of women being punished for losing their babies (and you should be), NAPW is an organization to follow and support however you can. They ensure no one is locked up, shamed, or denied rights because they have the capacity for pregnancy, are pregnant, or because of any outcome of pregnancy.
It’s a sad reality that people are falsely convicted of crimes in our justice system, and we need to work to eliminate these injustices as much as human error allows. However, the solution isn’t to decriminalize evil, and one of the greatest acts of evil imaginable is the deliberate ending of an innocent human life. You can name dozens, hundreds of truly terrible problems we face as humans, but no matter how bad the problem is, MURDERING A BABY will NEVER be a legitimate solution.
And no one is, they are ridding themselves of an embryo or fetus. Essentially a parasite. They’re not capable of surviving outside of a woman’s body until many months into the pregnancy. Depriving a woman of control over her own body is evil, terminating something that’s barely even alive and is less aware than even an insect isn’t.
James is right. I’d like will to imagine this. Your partner has a miscarriage. The doctors legally cannot remove the fetus. Your partner dies of septic. You now get to plan their funeral. Unfortunately, that is the reality for many people in America who cannot access safe medical care. And you still say your partner was “evil”.
