inkoutsidethelines came up with this great idea for an adult Scooby-Doo series, starting with actually making the characters adults. This post goes into each character, Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy, and Scooby. If you like this sort of thing we also post another Adult Scooby-Doo Idea you might want to read!

Scooby is a Pooka perhaps? Sort of like Harvey was to Elwood P. Dowd. Scooby is to Shaggy?
Velma’s girlfriend/person-of-interest/crush/ex-GF/etc needs to be someone outside the group that they rely on frequently. A police detective, maybe, like Murphy in the Dresden Files books. If it’s a will-they-or-won’t-they setup, then yes, eventually they will. It might not be permanent, but they will always TRUST each other no matter what.
This entire premise is more well thought out and written than the entire first (and maybe last) season of Velma.
One important addendum: Shaggy still talks like he did in the kids’ version. Which makes the fact that he’s the only one with common sense even funnier.
“Like, I was going through the books, and we need to get some new cases quick, or else — zoinks, we’ll be bankrupt, guys!”
Bonus points if as the cook, he makes enough to feed an army, and then he and Scooby are 95% of that army. Ooh, and he could invent the recipe for Scooby Snacks! Somebody either stop me from writing this show, or give me the money to make it happen!
This sounds like a perfect setup for a Monster of the Week campaign.
