Elsinore Rose wrote this wonderful Beauty and the Beast fan fic. It retells the classic story as an aromantic fairy tale and honestly we need more of that! I am here for the Beast as a scholarly ace tiger with horns:

I think it would be an interesting twist if one day, beast comes to her with lie, matts in his fur and junk because he fell into some burrs and she just roles up her sleeves and starts picking them off, even though they’re pokey and hurt her hands, because, you know, she can’t have her cat husband going around with burrs in his fur.
Suddenly he just *POOF* becomes a human and everyone’s trying to figure out what happened.
He’s like, “did you just fall in love with me?”
She’s all, “uh, no. I just didn’t want you to be in pain.”
It takes him some time to get used to being aa human again, but, honestly, he’s rich and lives in a castle, so life really isn’t all that bad. So the two of them stay together in their giant castle with manservants who, honestly, were quite content just keeping the household to themselves and not involving the village or anyone.
Because it turns out that you can *love* someone without being *in love* with them.
Why do I like this better?
Because aromantics/asexual/ace CAN STILL LOVE. The curse said, “Only by loving another and earning their love in return can the curse be broken.” It never said anything about romance.
