  1. Hiring workers at an agreed-upon price, without hammering them down or nickel-and-dime-ing them on the price, is business. That’s the worker’s job, how they make their living. *Forcing* someone to work at *below* market price, whether by shaming or lying about need or some other form of pressure, would be exploitation. Yes, I have a regular cleaning service, and yes I pay the price that THEY asked, and I don’t argue about the annual price increases.

  2. Anybody who focuses on the “buying other people’s lifetime to do their chores” bit has missed the point. The original thread wasn’t about exploitation, it was about privilege. The problem isn’t hiring people to do things, it’s acting like being able to do so makes you better than those who can’t. Like, yeah, if I had someone to sort my mail for me, it wouldn’t pile up. That doesn’t make me sloppier, lazier, or dumber than people who have private secretaries
