This is a wholesome and honest story from a dad who has a son named Daniel, who is autistic. The short story is about being at Walt Disney World with his family and his son having a tantrum. He was getting ready to be berated with advice on parenting from strangers and having to defend himself and his son, but then something unexpected happened. A man near them said something simple, yet kind and understanding and it changed everything. This is the value of kindness:

Sorry, not sorry, but ‘God’ isn’t responsible for this. It’s genetics. Kids are born like this sometimes. It could be from all the chemicals we’re exposed to in our foods and such, it could be just random sequencing of it all in the womb, but saying that a child that’s born in such a way as to not be able to function in modern society isn’t exactly a ‘gift’. And if there is a ‘god’ behind all this nonsense like children getting cancer, being born neurospicy, starving to death in capitalistic hellscapes and in third world countries… that god is a shit god unworthy of worship or acknowledgement as anything other than a dumpster fire of a deity. Stop giving god credit or blaming god for all this nonsense. They’re not real.

Hi Scott, you know what I have learnt as a parent of children with autism? Patience, tolerance, and acceptance . I will be the first to admit I wasn’t the most tolerant or chill person growing up, I spent time in the military and learnt to obey and follow orders without too many questions…. And then I had a son who is on the spectrum who saw things, sights, sounds and he reminded me to slow down and see the simple beauty of the world around, maybe that’s the gift from God? Maybe my son’s gift to the world is reminding the rest of us of the simple pleasures. Maybe before you judge so harshly you might take a minute to learn about about some of the people who are on the autism spectrum and how they can adapt and overcome ignorance and adversity, and who teach the rest of us to be better people. Peace
