Wow, these Game Boy inspired platform shoes are awesome! In 2001 Nintendo decided to do something unique to help promote their style campaign. They tapped young Helen Red Richards Rees, then a freelance shoe designer, to come up with these delightfully silly promotional shoes to show off the different colors the new Game Boy devices were available in. She is now head of design for C. & J. Clark International Ltd. The shoes were exhibited in various art galleries in the early 2000s; each pair cost $2,000 and had to be ordered directly from Nintendo.
