Sir is actually the masculine equivalent to ma’am, it’s not gender neutral.
Nope. It’s neutral. That’s why military officers are all sir, no matter the gender. Sir just denotes a respectable rank. Thinking it’s masculine just means you think women don’t ever get a respectable rank or position.
