Julie d’Aubigny was a 17th-century opera singer and master duelist. Many colorful stories have been written about her life, although little is know for certain about it. Her alternate lifestyle and career were often the subject of rumor and gossip. She even inspired many fictional and semi-fictional portrayals.

She trained with a fencing master named Sérannes and that’s giving me major Arya Stark being trained by Syrio Forel in Game of Thrones vibes. While travelling and performing in impromptu shows in taverns and local fairs, La Maupin dressed in male clothing but did not conceal her sex. Again, getting some major Arya vibes. Hopefully one day soon we’ll get a show or movie about this awesome lady. People would for sure love to watch an ass kicking bisexual opera singing duelist do her thing! It ain’t over until the bi lady sings. 😉
