Wow. This is an eye-opening post about women kicking men in the balls as a self-defense practice. This of course generates controversy, even though it is an effective way to strike to defend yourself.
The strongest argument I can think of for not kicking a guy in the groin, unless he is very distracted, is that most of us by the time we reach our teens have learned to protect them so if we feel they are in danger will turn and take the blow on our thigh. Painful but not debilitating.
Mileage may vary. A lot of guys (and I mean a LOT of guys) master this technique, and then go through so much of life not having to practice it that we lose the knack by our midtwenties… and even then, if a guy is inebriated, impaired, or otherwise overly cocky he may fail to recognize the NEED to protect his balls in time to prevent damage.
So if someone needs to debilitate a guy, the fact is it’s worth a shot.
This. A dude was saying something stupid to me so I slowly raised my foot up between his thighs to above his knee. By the time he noticed I had him at gunpoint so he pretty much begged me not to go through with it.
Kicking a man in his groin area is a very effective self defense measure. It is also effective on a women, just not as much.
The other spot to hit, if you are close, is the throat.
“Ears are pull tabs….” I’ve always told anyone I was teaching self defense to that telling the police that the ear could be used for dna identification was an effective way to prosecute someone.
The only better tactic is shooting him until he stops. Under the law, you do not shoot to kill, you shoot to stop the threat. IMO, the threat does not stop while he’s breathing. He’d want revenge once he recovers. Just don’t tell the cops those last two lines.
Part of the problem is that the Make My Day laws protect a resident from lawsuits if the perp dies, but not if he lives. So if you shoot or stab an attacker, and he lives, he can sue you and win. If he does not live, his family is not legally able to sue you for self-defense.
That needs to change. If you have to defend yourself, once it’s declared self-defense, you should be protected from all lawsuits related to that act. Until it does, be wary of letting an attacker live.
Yeah, the liver’s an easier target, if you can learn muay khao clinch fighting techniques, you can knock pretty much anyone out with a good knee to the liver. Can’t get the liver, aim for the spleen or groin, but keep those knees slamming in till he goes down.
