Klingons are trans allies. In the words of @DeepGayceNine: “This Pride Month, never forget that Klingons had trans rights”! This scene in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine when Kor finds out Curzon Dax is Jadzia Dax now is pretty heartwarming. See, it’s so simple to just use people’s correct names when asked! An important note: This post isn’t about Trill physiology. It’s just about respecting preferred names / pronouns regardless of past perceptions. Another note: Sisko did call her “old man” all the time, but Jadzia never asked him to stop so it was an accepted nickname. I have hope that if she had asked him to stop he would have respected her wishes. One last note: Obviously Klingon society is not one we should be idolizing or looking up to. It has many flaws and is inherently violent, this post is just about how easy it is to call someone by their correct name.
