Larry Croft Cosplay - Lara Croft Genderbend

Knightmage looks fantastic cosplaying as his badass Rule 63 genderbent Lara Croft cosplay – Larry Croft: Tomb Raider!

Here’s a few words from the cosplayer about the costume: “100% Complete. Easy and classic. I wanted to do a genderbend but keep the original aesthetic. Modified women’s pants, foam belt/holsters and back pack with faux leather. Now, who’s up for an adventure?”

We so commonly see women do genderbends of male characters, but not as often the other way around. So it’s awesome to see such a strong female character reimaged as badass dude to pay homage to her. He did such a great job keeping Lara’s sex appeal, but masculinizing it and he looks amazing.

Unfortunately, people on the internet will always be assholes and this cosplay causes some childish backlash and hateful comments. The cosplayer addressed on his facebook the hate comments about his Larry Croft cosplay with a wonderful message to the community:

“Make NO mistake. I personally couldn’t really care less about the negativity, or rather insecurity towards me. After doing this a bit now and out of 255 cosplays it should be already be well known that no matter what I’m still going to do 256 in whatever way I want. What I do feel bad about are those who are wanting to cosplay, sees the negativity from others and are deterred because of it. And to be 100% honest, one of the reasons why I unapologetically put myself out there and try to be so prolific and limitless whether with character or budget is the hope that those who witness that negativity sees me and still says, “if he can do it and exceptionally succeed at it then f-it, so can I”. That’s my goal, period. Flat out for everyone else, do better, be better.”
