  1. Suggested edit to the above: Say ‘Thank You’ only when you actually feel grateful for what the person did. I started doing that in high school (as well as only apologizing when the person was actually offended, but that’s a separate rant), and I’d say it’s helped me be not only less of a people pleaser, but also more conscious of what I’m grateful for in this world.

    1. in business, though, keep in mind that a thank you (especially in an email), is not so much a statement of gratitude, but an acknowledgment that the report/ information they have sent you was received. Tho on Teams IM, you could give a simple thumbs up emoji instead.
