The cat becomes the member of the team, and one day he disappears, while the team fight the big bad.
And then suddenly the enemy collapses, on top of them, a huge crate of weapons, and on the crate sits the cat who just knocked the crate off a shelf.
OR
same situation,but the army of mechs are depowered because the cat knocked out the power source(aka fiddled with it long enough to be unplugged.
