Moreover, legislation should be passed requiring that like insurance and extended warranties, a provider must have a backup plan in place in the event of merger or acquisition to secure the property rights of those who have purchased services / licenses from them, such that those right must be preserved in the merger or in the event the business goes under. IE, rights / streaming must “fail over” to another provider, who will pick up the slack. Nobody should lose access to a lifetime worth of license purchases because of one bad actor being an absolute corporate d!ck, or going under. This shit should never happen to anyone again, ever…
