  1. I am completely lost when it comes to advanced texting…. of course, I don’t even own a cell phone (and, I was born in 1967 🙂 .)

    1. This is dangerously close to being proud of one’s ignorance or incompetence. It’s not difficult to learn. It smooths the social contract. Don’t be one of those people that others smile (thinly) and think “he only has a couple decades left.” (Early adopter of technology a year OLDER than you are who gets upset when he finds he’s incompetent or completely ignorant in a field).

  2. It should also be noted, “Call Me” is not a text. It’s an indication that you tried reaching me, and couldn’t, but something serious is happening. I will now call you in a panic. thinking someone’s in hospital, only to find out, you accidentally messed up the settings on your computer

    1. Also, text communication gives you a searchable record to reference back to and is easier for those with hearing or auditory processing issues.

  3. please don’t bring age or generation into this. I know millennials who call and 80 year olds who prefer texts

      1. When you look at trends, you don’t make sweeping, blanket statements. You note all of the aspects of that trend.

  4. Meanwhile, us GenX’ers have been “texting” since we were kids. Remember the ninja notes? And, we haven’t stopped. Though, we do know the value of a phone call.
