This is seriously the best historical story about a poem and the word “fart” (lol) of all time. It is the ancient Chinese story of Su Dongpo, who wrote a boastful poem and was trolled by his friend who lived across the lake from him. It actually has a good moral too though, which we’ll post below:

So in the end, Su Dongpo realizes that if he really was a man of such spirituality he would not have been so easily provoked. With one word his friend showed him that he was not as spiritually advanced as he claimed to be. Ashamed but wiser, he departed quietly. From that point on, he became a man of humility.
