There has been tons of controversy, misinformation, and memes these past few days surrounding Imane Khelif, an Algerian professional boxer, who is a biological cis woman. It all started in the Paris Olympics when her Italian competitor Angela Carini, pulled out seconds into their bout after being punched hard in the face. Now bigots and far-right not jobs, of course including Trump, J.K. Rowling, Elon Musk, and all the usual suspects are trying to claim that she is a “man”. This is wild because she was born female and identifies as female. She simply has a genetic quirk of high levels of testosterone in her system. This as always is because Biological Sex Is a Spectrum, that doesn’t mean she is a “man” or “trans”.
