This post about how the concept of virginity is just more made up, stupid, sexist crap to shame women is pretty spot on. After reading it and giving it some thought, I no longer believe in the concept of virginity either:

I’m 51 and have never understood guys wanting virgins. Hell, I wanted someone that knew what they were doing. Much rather focus on pleasing my partner than teaching my partner.
Hetero woman here, it’s never made sense to me either. The first person I was with of my own free will made sure I knew he “didn’t take my virginity” because I’d been raped. As if the first time I chose it couldn’t actually be special.
On the reverse, with only one exception I’ve found that men who have “a lot of experience” just think it means they are magically able to pleasure a woman. But virgins or men who haven’t slept with many people are more willing to find out what works. Of course, I haven’t been available since I was 23, so my oldest partner (on purpose) was 26 I think? It’s possible men actually mature and learn. Though from what I’ve read a lot of them just don’t.
