“The Witchfinders” (S11E3) of Doctor Who had King James played very, very flamboyantly by Alan Cumming. A number of people on the various fan communities, who had only read about him is school history class, queried the historical accuracy of this. Those who had read in more depth about the period indicated that based on contemporary accounts what was shown was, if anything, toned down.
