LOL! Brennan Lee Mulligan tweeted this thread about how The Lord of the Rings makes a lot more sense when you realize it’s actually just a transcribed D&D campaign! If you think about it, it’s really quite obvious that The Lord of the Rings is just Dungeons & Dragons, haha. This thread is a journey (much like LotR is, heh), it goes through the campaign from beginning to end, starting with the low level hobbit players joined by their friend who is an OP wizard from a previous campaign. Also honestly, most of Legolas’ moves only make sense when you realize his player is just really lucky and rolls a lot of critical hits.
Anyway below is the thread that proves The Lord of the Rings is just D&D by Brennan Lee Mulligan. You might know him from College Humor or as the Game Master on Dimension 20, a tabletop RPG show. So he knows his shit!

Well, there you have it, The Lord of the Rings was just the original D&D campaign. I have a theory that The Mandalorian is just a sci-fi tabletop game campaign, I’ll have to write that sometime! What do you think? Leave comment below!

Where’s the rest of the story!?! I need to see how it ends! (Yes I’ve seen the movies but I wanna know how THEY do it. 😝)
At least some of the roomies are obviously studying in a cooking school and have dreams of setting up their own fantasy themed catering service which explains all the importance food has in the campaign. I’m sure that at some point they start making up foods such as Lembas which end up as the nicknames for the group’s favourite pizzas and other take away.
In case anyone is unfamiliar with the story, here is how it plays out: https://www.shamusyoung.com/twentysidedtale/?p=612
