Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal drew these comics that touch on the nightmare that is the transporters in Star Trek. And I mean, yea, they’re not wrong. A transporter is a fictional teleportation machine used in the Star Trek universe. Transporters convert a person or object into an energy pattern (a process called “dematerialization”), then “beam” it to a target location, where it is reconverted into matter (“rematerialization”). The term “transporter accident” is a catch-all term for when a person or object does not rematerialize correctly.
This is why Dr. Leonard McCoy from Star Trek: The Original Series and Dr. Katherine Pulaski from Star Trek: The Next Generation both had transporter phobia. They knew exactly what those damn things did to an organic being. Not to mention the long history of “transporter accidents” that happen over and over on Federation ships, lol.
“I signed aboard this ship to practice medicine, not to have my atoms scattered back and forth across space by this gadget.” -Dr. Leonard McCoy, Star Trek: The Original Series season 1, episode 22 “Space Seed”
The transporters in Star Trek really are a nightmare. Don’t beam me up, Scotty.

Like you aren’t already dying and being resurrected from one instant to the next…
What, that’s not what’s happening?
How would you know?
The good thing is that your clone will fully believe they are you. So, no worries. 😉
