So you’ve probably heard the claim that if there’s a fire at the Yale University library, all of the oxygen is removed from the building which will kill everyone inside to save the rare books. This claim is mostly false. What actually happens is that fire suppressant gases are released into the book stacks only. This does reduce oxygen levels in the library, but it would still safe be for humans. The replies to this post about it are amusing though:
