THIS IS SPARTA! Everyone knows that men of Sparta were total badass warriors, but did you know that Spartan women were just as badass!? Of course as a whole Sparta was a brutal militaristic society which promoted slavery and war as a way of life. But in the context of history they were super interesting. After my last comment, I found this wonderful book: Spartan Women by Sarah B. Pomeroy. Highly recommend if this interest you.
Not that this is factually inaccurate, but it’s worth noting, only free-born, first-class citizen Spartan women had these rights. most Spartan women were slaves, or second-class Spartan women. Only a small handful, about a third of women, enjoyed the full privileges outlined.
