  1. If you use a baseball bat for protection, practice with it. Learn to swing it full force. Practice jabbing it at targets. Get a stronger friend to fight you for control of the bat. Learn to use it as a weapon.

    1. If you are expecting to use it indoors, get one of the smaller aluminum bats that look like they are sized for 5-year-olds. They will be easier to swing in tight quarters like rooms and hallways, and can still deliver full-power strikes, especially if you modify it to have a weight either at the large end or put fluid in it to do the same thing on a swing.

      Plus, it will be easier to use one-handed if you want to try having some sort of shield or phone in your off-hand.
