Feminist writer Geraldine tweeted her idea for a backstory of another female Joker and some angry dudes on twitter were not too happy about her suggestion. The trolls really came out of the woodwork on this one. Classic internet outrage hilarity ensued as both sides fired back. She even makes a Misogynist Twitter Bingo for the occasion as you can see below: 🤣

My only suggestion on this is that if you’re taking the Joker in this direction–which would be *amazing*–don’t go halfway on it. Go full reversal. Batman isn’t conflicted; Batman is the ultimate defender of “Not all men,” and a kindler, gentler patriarchy.
Batman is the villain, the male defense mechanism against women trying to overturn the system.
It doesn’t sound like the Joker, but it DOES sound like a compelling character that could be a meaningful story. In some senses it’s hijacking the joker mantle to go in a radically different direction with it… but you know what? That’s okay for an Elseworld, or for a story or two before the character strikes off to establish her own identity. My only hesitation is presenting her as a villain. She sounds a lot like one of those cases where a genuinely important cause is being villainized out of the need for a rich man to be cast as a hero, rather like Poison Ivy.
Come on! There is no way Bruce (Cis White Inherited Wealth) Wayne would be conflicted on which side he’d be on. Be realistic!
When women write this kind of garbage it makes it worse for all the legitimate women out there who aren’t batsh!t.
Congratulations! You’re part of the problem!
