Velma Dinkley Cosplay from Scooby-Doo

*Jinkies!* Fairwind Cosplay looks wonderful as Velma Dinkley from Scooby-Doo in these photos by John F. Sheehan! Fairwind also wrote a piece about why she was attracted to cosplaying as Velma:

“As a little girl, coming home from dance class in the evenings meant only one thing: it was Scooby Doo time on Cartoon Network! I was an avid reader even as a young child, and I loved solving mysteries in books. I couldn’t get enough: I read series like Encyclopedia Brown, Nancy Drew, The Boxcar Children, and even those five minute solve-the-crime books meant for grownups because I just had to know how the stories ended. Naturally, Scooby–Doo was a good fit for me as a cartoon. Not only was it full of riddles and twists, but it was also funny and engaging for kids my age.

Velma always stood out to me among the characters in the series. While she wasn’t classically beautiful like Daphne, she was the smartest and most levelheaded member of the Scooby Gang, and she almost never let her fear get the best of her. She was witty and tech-savvy as the series progressed, and I liked seeing a smart, somewhat geeky girl like me in charge. So naturally when I grew up, I decided that she was a high priority on my cosplay list. Doing a shoot in and around a spooky old farmhouse was a dream come true for me!”
