As usual Captain Kirk is distracted by his passion for a beautiful woman, leaving Spock to defend a planet against a disastrous asteroid collision. So this leads him to say, “In the time it has taken me to explain the problem, the asteroid has moved from here to here.” And he just keeps moving the rock slightly towards Dr. McCoy.
