This is a great piece of adult advice. If you’re wondering what to get as a grief gift for friends or family when a loved one dies, this is a much better suggestion than the typical cards or flowers:
A friend of mine’s father had a tragic accident, in the hospital for days before he died. I left a box of food (deli style stuff & salads) since I figured they’d have relatives coming in & out of the house at all hours and have stuff that took no prep to eat would be handy. My friend told me later that it was especially useful since her husband was a health nut and none of the family liked the “good for you” stuff he kept in the house.
My brother’s next door neighbors brought over a large deli platter when our mom passed. We lived on that for 3 days through the wake and the funeral
