Little Kids Teach Us All a Lesson in Acceptance

This is parenting done right (Chester’s parents of course, not the other adults in the story)! This little boy and his parents are just wonderful! Every kid and person should be free to dress up for fun however they want without being ridiculed. After all, Boys Can Like Disney Princesses Too. We need to stop following silly and pointless rules that society tells people to conform to. Anyway, this little boy and his friends are role models to us all and teach us a beautiful lesson about humanity and acceptance:

  1. Once again proving that hate is taught, and not instinctual. Fear is instinctual, and if one chooses ignorance over understanding of differences, then one learns to embrace both fear and ignorance over bravery and understanding. And there is no more deciding factor in that choice than the influence of one’s family. Even moreso than that of one’s peers.

  2. Sadly, it isn’t always as simple. My grandson aged 9 wore a dress to the theatre. He received compliments from some adults there, nothing more. The next day his ‘friends’ hit him, pushed him to the floor and tried to ride there bikes over him. He says he won’t ever wear a dress again. It would be nice to believe that little kids teach us a lesson in acceptance, but little kids can horrible. Of course, they get it from the adults.
