Dwayne Johnson and Disney have confirmed that a live action Moana is coming! Dwayne will be returning to his role as Maui as well as being a producer. Auli’i Cravalho is set to be an executive producer, too, but it’s not yet confirmed if she will play Moana again or not. So someone used AI to show what Dwayne will look like as Maui, and also fan cast Zendaya as Moana. Here is what Dwayne said on Instagram:

This is kind of rude, Auliʻi Cravalho is a real actress and the voice actress for Moana. Should have used her likeness.
This is weird. Why would you fan cast a half black half white actress as a Polynesian character? Not only that, but used altered facial features that changed her race to look more “ethnic.” If someone did that in any other situation, it would get called out, especially in a post with the Rock literally talking about authenticity for Polynesians. Stop fancasting zendaya as every poc character just because she is pretty. They arent interchangeable.
i think that its a great idea it will inspire thousand’s of people and her role in the greatest showman shows that she does not only know how to act but she can sing and honestly who cares if she is half and half that does not define who she is and what she can do so i say GO FOR IT!!! life is all about taking risks and you will never know until you try
