Mando’a Language

This is a great post about Mando’a, the Mandalorian language in Star Wars. It was created by Karen Traviss for the Star Wars Expanded Universe. It is primarily spoken by the Mandalorian culture within the Star Wars universe. Traviss developed Mando’a to give depth to Mandalorian characters in her Star Wars novels, such as the Republic Commando series. The language incorporates elements of various Earth languages, including Latin, Spanish, and Welsh, to create a unique linguistic identity for the Mandalorians. While not as widely spoken or recognized as languages like Klingon from Star Trek, Mando’a has gained a dedicated fan following within the Star Wars community.

  1. “Their brain cell is lonely” is a phrase I may just use in English. Reminds me of a phrase I helped come up with for attacking a conniving person (in a story, to be clear): “Next time I’ll hit you in your other face!”
