David Bowles, who is a writer, translator, and professor with a doctorate in education, tweeted this eye-opening thread about why our modern education system is a failure. Its basic premise is monstrous. This actually explains really well why so many of us are so poorly educated. I never really thought about how little we know about how people learn. And in turn how clueless we really are about educating them:
