The Deeper Meaning Behind This Lord of the Rings Scene

People who’ve read The Silmarillion probably already know this, but there is a deeper meaning behind this scene in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. When leaving Lothlórien the members of the fellowship were each given a gift by Galadriel. Frodo was given the Light of Eärendil, Sam got elvish rope, etc. Everyone was given something that will be useful to them. But Gimli only asks for Galadriel’s hair. This post below explains why that is so meaningful:

Gimli: “I have taken my worst wound at this parting, having looked my last upon that which is fairest. Henceforth I will call nothing fair unless it be her gift to me.”

Legolas: “What was her gift?”

Gimli: “I asked her for one hair from her golden head. She gave me three.”
