Tia Sol’s Costumes Prove Cosplay Knows No Age

A Brazilian mom named Solange aka Tia Sol (“Aunty Sun”) has become popular on her facebook page (she has over 120k likes!) thanks to her amazingly creative cosplays! She buys pieces online and puts together the costumes herself. She first discovered her love of cosplay when she would accompany her daughter, who is a cosplayer, to conventions. But then she began participating as well and she said that in the beginning: “I didn’t know that I wouldn’t be able to stop myself from going to the events. I don’t miss a single event in my city. I’d really like to visit other ones, but have you seen the price of the fares?”

She also told Buzzfeed: “A friend said that I wouldn’t have the guts, I chose a character and had the costume made without saying another word. It was Tweety Bird’s granny. When it was ready, I took a photo, and posted it on my facebook. I never thought that I would be well received among the young people, I’ve made a lot of friends during all of this.”

She said that the events are places where you can forget everyday problems and have fun, “I can launch myself into the world of make-believe, where anything goes.” She really nailed why cosplay is so great and we absolutely agree!
