Violet Should Have Won Wonka’s Chocolate Factory

LOL! Evayna puts forward an extensive and seriously convincing argument that Violet Beauregarde should have won Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory in the classic movie Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory:

  1. If memory and the internet serves me correctly the problem is that the failure did not in fact lie in the eating of the gum or the falling into the chocolate river. The reason Charlie in the end won was because he refused to betray Willie Wonka’s trust by giving stolen candy to Arthur Slugworth,

    1. Did she give him candy, though? Not seen it in a long while, so she may have, I don’t recall for sure, but as I recall she did in fact not. If that’s your criteria, she’s still more deserving.

    2. We never saw any indication that Violet would have handed the gobstopper over to Slugworth either. None of the other children actually had a chance to pass Wonka’s final test, as they got eliminated in the factory before that could come into play.
In the original movie, Charlie got lucky, that was all.

  2. Charlie broke the rules too. In fact, his was worse because it was peer pressure (familial pressure from an older generation. Thanks, Gramps)

She did it because she was an explorer. I know it was already started but she’s a young Wonka and this article is correct.

    1. Only if your definition of Wonka is a capitalistic “take what you want and have no regrets” capitalist which was Violet. Charlie did wrong, but instead of screwing over Wonka he returned the Gobstopper and apologized for what he had done. Charlie WAS out until his one selfless act. That’s why Charlie won.
