You Are Allowed To Leave an Uncomfortable Situation

Erynn Brook tweeted this insightful thread about how her mom taught her how to leave an uncomfortable situation at a young age. We should always remember YOU ARE ALLOWED TO LEAVE. That may sound simple enough, but as a kid we often don’t have the confidence to stand up for ourselves. And if never learn this as a child, you may end up staying in uncomfortable situations as an adult to be “polite” or whatever. So this is important for anyone who needs to hear it, or anyone who needs to teach this to their own kids:

  1. This is beautiful. I wish someone had taught me that it was good to have boundaries. I spent many a sleepover awake in an armchair praying for the sun to come up faster.
